CHANDIGARH: A boy and a girl were found hanging under mysterious circumstances at a garden in Chandigarh's Sector-33 early on Sunday.
Sector 34 police kept the bodies at a mortuary in GMSH-16.
No suicide note was recovered from crime scene, cops said.
The police also said no external injury marks were found on the body and it seems they committed suicide.
Police said the victims had been identified as Gautam Kumar, a resident of Sector 43 and Goldi , a resident of sector 34. Both victims hail froom Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi.
The boy was working in Mohali and the girl was domestic help.
Police said the age of both victims is not confirmed but both seem minors.
A morning walker found them hanging with the help of dupatta in the park with a tin shed and informed the police control room at around 5am.
Upon receiving the information, sector 34 police and a PCR van reached the spot. Police pulled them down and rushed to hospital where doctors declared both dead on arrival.
Police said primary investigation had revealed that both were in a relationship and wanted to marry but their families were against their wishes. The family members of both victims have been informed in Hardoi and postmortem would be conducted when they reach the city.
Police have ruled out any foul play as no external injury marks were found on the bodies of victims, however, they said the exact cause would only be known after the autopsy report.
Sector 34 police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and initiated inquest proceedings.
On December 18, 2022, a man and a minor girl were found hanging from a tree at the Botanical garden in Sarangpur. Both were in a relationship and wanted to marry but families were against their marriage.
